Statement of design for our Franklin Educational Foundation website

Artists’ Statement by Eileen Turpin and Victoria Insinna

We will work together to create a website for the Franklin High School Educational Foundation.  The foundation awards scholarships to Franklin’s college bound seniors.

The main purpose of the foundation, like all charities, is to collect donations.  Thus, it will be important that the website projects a feeling of trustworthiness and seriousness.  The target audience will be people who value education and who are charity-minded, probably mostly upper-middle class people – people with money to spare for charity.

Although it will be important to keep the look conservative, at the same time, it should also have a feeling of youth and fun, since the foundation serves high school students.

Color website

Turquoise is a color that promotes mental calmness.
A combination of blue and a small amount of yellow, turquoise fits in on the color scale between green and blue. It radiates the peace, calm and tranquility of blue and the balance and growth of green with the uplifting energy of yellow.

Turquoise recharges spirits during times of mental stress and tiredness, alleviating feelings of loneliness. If you focus on the color turquoise, whether on a wall or clothing and you feel instant calm and gentle invigoration, ready to face the world again!
Turquoise is a great color to have around you, particularly in an emergency, as it helps with clear thinking and decision-making. It assists in the development of organizational and management skills. It influences rather than preaching and demanding.

One page on beaches and water.
A page on the stone turquoise.
Finally a page about turquoise promoting love and healing.

Second website.

I think this website is a great resource for design and tutorials: http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2011/01/the-elements-of-retro-web-design/

Here are a couple pages from the site.

Websites I like

I like the design of http://www.reformschoolrules.com/. It's not too compartmentalized, it doesn't have the feel of a rigid grid. It's fun and the design is consistent  with the kind of products they are selling.
